Mpox has taken a terrible form. The infectious disease has spread beyond the African continent to Asia and Europe. The death toll is increasing. The fear of a new epidemic has spread around the world, this virus named as highly contagious Mpox was first detected in the Congo, but it quickly spread to 13 other African countries. But it does not end here. To report the horror, this time crossed the borders of Africa and entered Europe. At least three of this virus patients have been identified in Pakistan as well.
Although monkeypox was transmitted from animals to humans, now this virus is spreading from humans to humans. In the meantime, at least four and a half hundred people have died in the Congo due to infection with this virus. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared a global public health emergency due to the severity of the situation.
The director general of WHO said, to explain the dire situation, he said that apart from the continent of Africa, patients affected by mpox have been identified in Asia and Europe. That is why we have decided to declare a health emergency.
Another person in charge of WHO said that this virus is spreading faster than usual, and the death rate is also very high. The virus is causing severe damage to physically weak patients. It has crossed the country’s borders even though it is more in East Africa.
Types of Mpox:
2 main types of Mpox namely chelate one and chelate two have already been identified. The worst in terms of loss of life is mpox Kellet One. However, the problem occurs when the form of MPox changes. The new variant Kellet One B was detected in September last year, and since then the infection rate has increased.
How to spread ?
From the beginning of this year to July, more than 17,000 people have been affected by this virus. The disease virus is spread by contact with people and animals infected with it.
Symptoms of MPOX disease
Initial symptoms include fever, headache, back and lower back pain, and body rash.
Earlier in 2022, the World Health Organization had to declare a public health emergency due to the this virus. Homosexuality and illicit sexual relations are blamed for the disease.
